SHA GENERAL MEETING

SUGARWOOD HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION is having a general meeting which is currently scheduled January 10, 2007 at 6:30PM, Omega Institute, Hollywood Road, Houma.

All residents and SHA members are urged to attend.

Councilman Harold Lapeyre and developer Rodney Burns are scheduled to be in attendance to take questions. We also plan to have SHA attorney Warren Perrin in attendance, pending no scheduling conflicts.

If you have any questions or issues to be addressed, please post accordingly either on this forum, or fill out and submit a comment/violation form on main SHA web site.

Again, as a reminder, SHA is collecting membership dues which is based on $5 per month per household. We are asking everyone's consideration to join and also lend a helping hand on any of our several committees. For more information, please contact any of the board members.

We will soon distribute a flyer with the proposed agenda for our next meeting. Please spread the word and invite your neighbors to attend.

On behalf of SHA, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy Holiday Sason. Hope to see you there.

A Neighborhood Watch informational meeting was held on May 3, 2006 at the Omega Building in Houma, LA for interested members of the Sugarwood Homeowners Association and residents of Sugarwood Subdivision.  Deputy Baney of the Terrebonne Sheriff’s Department presented information and materials about the Neighborhood Watch Program.  He stated valid reasons as well as the benefits for establishing this program in the Sugarwood Neighborhood.

Fernis LeBlanc asked for volunteers to serve on a Committee to help start this in our neighborhood.  Karen Guilliot volunteered to assist Fernis with placing the necessary information on the Association’s web site for viewing.  This will include the handouts Deputy Baney had at the meeting.  Please contact Fernis on by phone, email or on our message boards if you would like to help out on this committee.

Deputy Baney informed those in attendance of the various programs available to the public for awareness; such as classes for self-defense, first aide and general information needed to enhance our lives as citizens in our neighborhoods.

Setting up a Neighborhood Watch Program will take time and participation for it to be successful.  Deputy Baney has given us the information to go forward.  Another meeting will be scheduled at a later date.

Respectfully Submitted,
Diana Ladmirault, member at large
